go to the above link to read the entire "preview". After reading it I must say I'm impressed, the whole thing about the characters actually having "bones" and the fact that when you get injured it will be eerily realistic. But it also says you need a fucking 1GB Video Card to play the game at full detail (enjoy the game, not dumb it down), :lookaroun that means u'd need a 512mb card to actually play the game on low/medium settings

If a fucking 256MB 6800 GT costs like £350/$400+ how much is a freakin' 1GB card gonna cost?! :fear:

Looks awesome though :naughty:

no, i highly doubt by 2006 they'll have a 1 gig card available for the public. he's prob just kidding. i say a video interview/preview of unreal 3.0 last year when they released the 1st screenshots. i must say, i was really impressed

ya, they did say it was a 2006 release, and by then the best VC u can get is probably 512mb, but I wonder why the interview mentions the use of a 1GB to play the game/demo @ full detail. Meh, all I can say it looks good.

The main programmer at Epic, Tim Sweeney, was very lavish with the info on the latest Unreal engine, so the gaming community has had the opportunity to find out many interesting details about the engine. Sweeny explained this advanced engine is intended for what Epic thinks will be the mainstream in 2006 and next-gen consoles, with DirectX 9.0 as the minimum specification, considering the fact that 1GB video card will let you enjoy the game at full detail. If you cannot afford a 1 Gig video card, Microsoft is rumored to be preparing a program where gamers can trade in their organs in exchange for computer part upgrades. Need more RAM? Simply donate 1 kilo of bone marrow. Donating one of your corneas will get you a new CPU and that 1 Gig video card I just mentioned can be yours for a kidney. Keep in mind that most humans can survive with only one kidney filleting the deadly toxins and bodily wastes from their bloodstream, which is good because NVIDIA's GeForce 6800 is namely the first video card that can run this new engine properly.

We sill can't play Doom 3 on full max settings remember, they say for full everything and a massive screen res you need a 512mb graphics card. But all you get for the 512mb card is uncompressed bitmap images, and from looking at the screenshots theres hardly any difference. A decent 128mb card can play Doom 3 on all settings to the top apart from uncompressed bitmapping. So basically an amazing 256mb card would in theory be able to play Unreal 3 on everything massivly high apart from say AA or AF.

reading first isn't my style...
but anyway that's a big step from 256 to 1 gig in only a year
lucky i was born with 3 kidneys... :shifty:

yes we do remember, no one i know has played unreal2 (the single player game) everyone's in it for the Unreal Tournament series. I'm just waiting for the next Unreal Tournament game using the Unreal 3.0 engine, unless of course the guys at epic can pull of a good FPS single player game (Unreal 3 i'm guessing, Unreal2 was just too gay from what I heard).

Unreal Tournament is no longer being made by Epic like Unreal 3 is. UT is now owned by Midway, creators of the Mortal Kombat series. So don't expect them to use the same engine.

Also i own a legal copy of Unreal 2, which i brought for £3.50 when i traded in my N64 like 3 years ago. I got more for a broke N64 memory card that the game cost :D

hahaha, nice peerz. i downloaded it way back when and i was expecting a good FPS single player game, what a waste of bandwidth, considering it was like a 2 gb download =|

They have 512mb Vid cards now?

WOW, i remember back in the day where the 9700 Pro pwned...

cpt_azad

9700 pro still pwns compared to the fx series (well most of it, anything after fx5700 is out of the 9700 pro's league).
