Good Graphic Cards *cheap*

Any NVIDEA gforce 2's are cheap, and they are all good cards for the most part. Nothing like the hardware that is top of the line now, but will provide all the recources you need for most anything. I would say the best card for the money ever is a Riva TNT 2 (nvidea chipset) Thats if you can get one. It's an old card but can hang with almost all gforce 2's.

I have tried many cards. You can buy them and return them to the store if your not satisfied thats what I do. I used to do this alot B4 they became like 500$ I currently use a ATI Radeon 8500. Its better than the Gforce 3's. Have not tried the GF 4's or the ATI R' 9++ yet though.

I disagree with you there.

It was to find out the price range he was looking for and what he wants to use it for.

You can get something like $25 ATi xpert 2000 pro 32MB video card. (Don't get this if you want to play the latest games!)

Or even used if you want something cheaper.

You also need the system to back it up,

Example: cant stick a g4 Ti 4600 into a 486 and expect to get 100fps on quake3.

you need the system to back it up, any bottle necks will slow you down.

i have the same problem so i got a p4 1.4 ghz and 256 mb ram and i need a card that is higher than geforce 2 but the price has to lower than at least 150 canadian dollars.

the highest price-performance ratio ...

while i'd agree that the GF2 series was a good series , i still prefered my old GF 256 DDR over them =)

Ok, then I have a question for you. I've heard that the 64MB Ti4200's actually run faster than the 128 versions. Is that true? That doesn't make sense.

It is true to an extent. I can show u benches showing yes and no.

The 64 meg cards usually have a higher clock speed, thus run faster on most games. But some games that require alot more textures, etc, the 128meg versions are better.

Looking for the future? get a 128.... if you go this route. Current 3dmark 03 scores show the 128s pulling better numbers then the 64megs, where as the old 3dmark 01, it was the opposite.

This week best buy had the PNY ti4200 for like 80 bucks after a mail in rebate, one hell of a deal.

Use this one myself, and find it well within good performance. No sense in spending high $$$ on the current 200-300 dollar cards when they will drop in price within a few months once the newest editions hit. ATi Radeon 9500 Pro. Its the best videocard for cheap. Runs 10% slower than the 9700, but is 40% off the 9700&#39;s price.

Or you can just go to pricewatch (http://www.pricewatch.com) to find a top-of-the-line videocard for cheap.

come on&#33; how hard is it, for people who start these threads, to say how much money they&#39;re willing to spend and what they want to use the card for? if you just say "cheap video card," you&#39;re going to get a lot of different answers and most of them will prolly not be the advice you wanted. we&#39;re not mind-readers.

even "100 frames per second in games" is kind of a vague statement, because it can be a piece of cake to get 100 frames on old games with a cheap card... while oftentimes there are certain brand new cutting-edge games where it&#39;s impossible for ANY CARD to get 100 frames/sec (because the game is such a hog-- possibly a very attractive hog, but a hog none the less). you gotta name some of the games you want to play, so we can figure out what you&#39;re really going to need in order to run the games smoothly.

the Radeon 8500 LE is a very good bang for your buck (under &#036;100) as compared to something like the Radeon 9500 Pro being almost &#036;200 :D

yes from newegg 8500 is about 70 dollars... he seems gone tho...

I agree. That ATI card is very good for the price and for what it can do. Just make sure that the memory is DDR.
