I thought the belief actually was that if you confess your sins and do the penance, then you will actually be absolved of your sins and all that.

In Muslim world i think they cut something vital off no matter how good a muslim you are.

I may be wrong here but didn't Jesus say all sins are equal? the forgiveness would only come to someone that truly is sorry for the sins though and not just repentance because of fear of retribution. So I would say that given that then even a criminal in the example would go to heaven.

HOWEVER..... no you won't .... because there is no god and no heaven...... I'm pretty sure Santa and the Easter bunnie are fictitious as well

As I understand it, anybody who repents will be saved. I think the Catholic Church has a somewhat complex system, a few millenia may be spent in purgatory.

Technically, if you raped something and at the end you repented and the something didn't then you would go to heaven and the something wouldn't.

This is one of those mystery things. :ermm: We can only see things from our rather limited perspective whereas God sees it from all eternity.

Of course, to truly repent is to see the world through different eyes - it is a big thing. Saying sorry with your fingers crossed doesn't cut it. :nono:

PS: murdering and raping with the intention of buying a get of jail card on your death bed is not a good plan. :nono: :nono:
