I know you don't need pressure, but you know its right to go back to school, especially as you are bright and would go crazy working at Maccie D's or some such for the rest of your life just to pay the bills.

I hope this is place will give you what you need.

Sorry, Hobbes, i know for a fact opportunity knocks many times.

But which time is the last?

That is why one must assume that it knocks but once. It may knock several times for one, but only once for another.

A drop-out teenager needs to grasp every chance at redemption and not be enouraged to think that they will be mysteriously bailed out at some point in the future.

The world does not exist to provide opportunity for the individual, it couldn't careless. Opportunities are a rare event that allow one to further himself, and each occurance is precious.

I see no help in telling a dysfunctional teen to lay back and wait for all the many second chances to passively come his way.

You are right. :)

Where did i mention laying back????

Encouragement???

You clearly misunderstand me, but that seems to be the thang lately. :(

Go, Zigs, go. :01:

Edit: As i see it, an opportunity is mostly created by one self.

No one told me to take care of (real) disfunctional teens. Yet i did.

No one told me to go run a store. Yet i did.

No one told or offered me to go train horses and their owners.

Yet there lies a big opportunity for me there.

Etc.

And I thought you actually were one of the few who actually reads my posts..... :(

I've seen too many people confuse opportunities with high hopes.

And calling Ziggy disfunctional; now that really helps!!!! :crying:

Zigs needs direction in a way that keeps him motivated, instead of other

people telling him what his direction should be.

I understood your post, no need for dramatics. I thought it downplayed the importance of THIS particular opportunity, which I did not think was a good thing to do. It's a discussion board, people will disagree, I can live with that.

My point in making that quip, was that this kid is being offered a chance to get back into school and this is the cruicible which will determine the rest of his life.

All the high school dropout I know are still waiting tables and parking cars. This does not make them bad people but they are sort of locked into their low income, month to month existances.

I think it is crucial that ziggy understand that this IS the fork in the road in his life. I've been there, witnessed that. Exceptional people can overcome taking the high school drop out route, but the average man is best advised to finish highschool and continue to learn a specialized skill.

Small schools can be good :)

Shame about the distance though, it's even further than I have to travel to uni.

Still, lots of music and an mp3 player or something should make it easier.

Be sure to flash your KLF membership card to the kids on the bus, that will give you all kinds of street credit.

Sounds to me like a lot of last minute homework will be completed on the long ride. You guys should break the homework up and then spend the bus trip passing around the ones you did and copying the others. Team-work :01:

So you have 3 hours to complete all of your homework before actually getting home.

You can take a Centrum on the bus then get home and hit the gym so that you will be the cock of the walk. :01:

Then you can spend the rest of the evening on the interweb thing, bragging about your "guns".

You always have to spin things to the positive.
