I've lost a stick of Sdram (PC133 128MB). I took it out of a pc with a broken mobo intending to use it in another pc when that one became available. I know I put it in a "safe place", but now that I've got the other pc I can't find the memory.

Someone suggest some "safe places", it might just jog my memory.

Safe places for me are normally:

Top desk drawer in an anti-static bag.
box at the end of the desk.
by the phone! (never lose stuff there).

Check the top of the tower?? had that happen once, found it after an hour of searching

boneyard(attic,garage,closet).
shelf that family does not go to.
special connector-wire box under bed.
glove compartment of car.
sitting out in the open in your room
still in the broken mobo
calm down, think of the ram, prayer to St Anthony
Check your pockets in jackets and sweaters
inquire family members...who may have "moved" your memory
misfiled with other parts of old pc.
disappeared like a sock in the dryer...check drawers of other
family members
cat or dog has it and you are out of luck
really...sometime if you just go about...it may come to you
where it is, or has been hiding
Good luck!

Lost your memory lynx? Oh noes!
Nothing's worse than hardware amnesia...

Lets try a little hypnosis to boost your powers of recall...

You are feeling sleepy.... sleeeeeeepy... sllllleeeeeeeeepppyyyyyyyyyy.....

You are back at your work area.
You are removing the RAM.
You are putting it somewhere safe.
Visualize the safe place.

There it is.

That'll be fiddy bucks for the hypnotherapy, or next week you will become...
A CHICKEN! :D

Update!

Just been to a friend's house to get him signed up for broadband. When I got there I remembered I had thought about upgrading his pc to XP (he's on 98) last time I went (about 2 weeks ago). I thought the only reason I hadn't installed XP originally was because of shortage of ram. It turns out it was also because of lack of disk space, so the upgrade never went through. But of course I had taken the ram along just in case...

Now I know I didn't leave the ram there, but it also means I probably didn't put it back in the "safe place". So now it could be anywhere in the house, or even in the car! That's a heck of a lot more places to search, but at least I've actually got somewhere else to search.

Thanks for everyone's help.

And no, Rob, I hadn't been drinking when I first posted, and I hadn't been drinking when I put the memory wherever it is. Though I probably had been shortly after though. :drunk:

Found it.http://img116.exs.cx/img116/1231/z7shysterical.gif

Remember I said I thought about upgrading my friend's pc to XP? Well you need a CD to do that. And a CD case is an excellent place to keep small items.

Now if I could just remember what I was going to do with it.http://img116.exs.cx/img116/934/z0tdntknw.gif

Edit: And just to prove you smartasses wrong, I'm going to look for it again tomorrow. :P
