Yikes my little guy pitches tomorrow . He's 9 , has been backcatcher for the first three games . Were 3- 0 , :01: So dad thought ,I'll show him some pointers.
He broke my new glasses on his second pitch to me . It was a strike ! :w00t: Wish us luck , I'm kidda excited ,but know it's just a game . Soccer I know, baseball very very weird to me.

:D Nah, expend all your excitement here and hopefully you'll be calm......er for the game.

 Just don't become one of those OTT parents that can make it nasty, fun for the kids is the most important thing.

 Congrats by the way, should be a great day.

Oh I'm not a yeller. I help line the field and help rake after. But I have to coach first base too. And there lies my anxieties. What if I fuk up . :D Win or loose its ,if the kids have fun. I find at that age they don't even know the score unless you tell them . My wife Sabine has the easy job . She's doing consesion, what a wimp EH ? :P

:) See, you're on to it already, you can't stuff up unless you lose your cool, which you aint gonna do. Relax and enjoy.

My lil fella played his first game in the halftime of a major match a coupla weeks ago, he's no great player...... but those kids had such a good time, it was brilliant:D

Listen just study the data your advance scout has collected, spend about 6 hours watching film of the other teams pitcher, chart tendancies and position your fielders appropriately.

Discretely clock all the opposing batters as they run to first base. If they are fast leave the grass long and turn the bases into swamps.

Just start with the basics this early in the season. You got your boy on "the juice" right.

woohoo! good luck peat & son :)

I'm in my first year coaching Little League....
so I got 12 kids, all ages 8-12
actually, its 9-12, but a couple are 8 yr olds playing as 9 yr olds
(yes, I got 12 kids....cuz I feel like teh father & mother half the time)

going into our first game tomorrow :w00t:

and you got off easy coaching 1st base :P
anything on the ground they run
anything in the air, send em half way, if it drops, they take off to second
if its caught, they go back to first :)

I don't know much about baseball (I only watch it during the Olympics every 4 years or so), but I'm sure your son will compete with valour in the glorious spirit of sports.

Which is, as all know, to send your opponents crying back home after kicking their arses all across the field. :shifty:

Hey great game ! We won 16 - 7 . Boy played his heart out . I was very quiet when he was pitching , that has to be the worst postion in sports for a parent to watch. Its like a goalie in soccer or a quarterback in football ,your mistakes cost your team. But he battled and tryed his best , all I wanted. He was smoken on the bat tho . 2 Rbi 's and stole home. Must say it was fun .

Things have changed, when I was in little league, there was a 10 run rule

still is.....just in the practice games no one pays it much mind, hence teh 20-0
it was teh 10 run rule that ended the game today
but I think if we sure up the defense a little....
we'll whoop em next time :D

Nope 6 innings games . Limit 5 runs in the first 5 ,the 6th inning is open .

I like this forum , don't know why I don't post here more often, best advice this side of Dear Abby . :) Oh god, game tomorrow too , but the little guy can't pitch . The rules say two days sleep in between games for pitchers if they pitch 3 innings. So I can sit back and enjoy the game . Thanks again for the posts much appreciated ! :)
