the mainstream press has picked up on the 40-minute long amateur production "Star Wars: Revelations" due to the relatively huge budget and quality special effects. don't expect it to be up-to-snuff with a real LucasFilm movie, but for the fan film niche (sci-fi geeks paying tribute to their favorite movies) it sounds pretty unique.

i'm grabbing it off of a newsgroup at the moment, as the main host's bandwidth is all tapped out.

here are some links.

SW Fans Films are nothing new but hopefully this one will be very good.

I've seen some good fan films with much lower budgets.

just watched it. :D

the script and acting were a bit rough, but then the same could be said of Lucas's SW prequels. it gets a little bit confusing at some points 'cause they're introducing a cast of new characters and telling a pretty comprehensive story in only 40 minutes, but it doesn't take long to figure out what's going on. the production values however were great. they sure squeezed a whole lot of bang out of their budget. some of the sequences are such clear tributes to scenes from the SW series that it's sort of like seeing a cover band play SW's greatest hits. if it had been shot on film (or with a better video camera) it could easily pass for a cable TV show.

Rather rough acting, but the story line was pretty good! Was a pleasure to watch. The special effects were stellar for such a low budget film.

Just watched it last night before I went to sleep. The acting wasn't that great but the computer scenery and saber effects were quite impressive.... especially becaus it's a low budget film.

It was interesting enough to sit through all 40 minutes, but I'm glad it wasn't any longer.
