1. does sbc yahoo dsl have a news group.
Only if your ISP provided email account ends with ameritech.net Source (http://ask.sbc.com/aitdsl/FAQ_19_165.shtm)

2.Say i download a NZB file do you download form the server your on from like your isp or a server you pay for or are you connected to other servers with like everyone using news groups. It's not really like that... You download the NZB from a supporting site, then this NZB along with a client that supports NZB functions downloads the files in the NZB through a specific server, one in which you have to specify.
Now that being said, ISP newsgroups servers suck, more often than not, (Unless you have RealitY's ISP...) so you will want to sign up for access to a newsgroup server. NewsHosting (http://www.newshosting.com/) and GigaNews (http://www.giganews.com/) are among the the most popular newsgroup access'. NewHosting is the best that I have found for unlimted access, able to download 500-600GB a month of data with no caps, as GigaNews, which costs more, will cap your access if they feel you are "downloading to much" on your unlimited account...These newsgroup services provide you with a server, and you download using that server that is provided, along with your username password.

3.whats a good client for NZB and do u even need a client. Like could u use outlook.
Grabit (http://www.shemes.com/)IMO is the best for NZB's as it is VERY user friendly and as long as you are only using NZB's it never has problems. Where as if you were to download articles in certain groups that contain more than million articles there tends to be problems. NewsLeecher (http://www.newsleecher.com/) on the other hand has the ability to moderate how many articles are downloaded, so it eliminates this problem, but this program has been know to be buggy, and "lose" the articles that were downloaded... You make your opinion, but these are the two most used...

Hope that helps out a bit. ;)

Crap... Accidently posted on my gf's account... <_<

and i dont feel like paying

Well i put it this way... I pay $14.95 a month for unlimited access to NewsHosting, and I average about 500-700GB a month from them. Now in terms of DVD's I'm averaging about 120-175 DVD's a month, now on the other hand, I could be shelling out $1800-$2625 on DVD's, or just settle for the $14.95 a month for the NewsHosting Service.

You can see my point... ;)

actually....hehehe.....I just started using Newsleecher, after a long time with GrabIt....
I find so far that Newsleecher is a hell of a lot less buggy
that being said, it will no doubt prove me wrong now  :P
but at least it stays connected....
GrabIt, for some reason now, likes to kill threads, but not kill em
a thread will stop dling, then I have to disable it, clear that article from the queue,
and restart it in another thread because that one is still trying to connect
and RR only gives me 3 connections, so.....
most times all threads will die quickly meaning GrabIt has to be restarted
and then theres the constant "GrabIt.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close....."
damnmed betas  :P
when shemes finally says it has a final build out....
