O&O is also a good one but i find diskeeper does what i need.

I use diskeeper 9. Just set and forget about, it does what it says on the tin. :D

there will be no definitive answer to that,
as it all comes down to personal preference
i myself like perfectdisk, but rossco posted some good ones too
i just dont like the ones he posted :P

i've tried Diskeeper, but it scares me with its thrashing, that was an old version though, not sure if it still does it.

But right now i'm using O&O, it seems pretty much the same as Perfectdisk, but with some nice CPU priority functions

Diskeeper Pro Version: 9.0.524.0 , is my chioce but had trouble with some sp2 service packs. I stay away from 9.0.333.0 it's to slowwww.

No problem ! :lol: I think I'v tryed just about every flavour of Defrag. I'm funny that way, must be because of the old win98 B.S. Your right tho, the set and forget is great. The boot defrag and set up MTF/ paging file is nice too. :)

Trying O&O right now, but I don't know if there's any one defragger that is by far the best, so to answer your question I think it's no one program.

FOSI always has it, and that's the highest recommendation, imho.

Ya fosi is still a great site. I posted a thread about Defragmenter Pro Plus , a while back . Everyone laffed at the name . It was version 3.1 . What an oxymoron tho. Pro plus 3.1 :rolleyes:

I tried O&O a while back and yes, it was good. But after a few months of use the program just suddenly refused to start anymore.
I couldn't be bothered fixing whatever it's problem was, so I just replaced it with DPP.
It does the exact same job O&O did, with no mess, no fuss and that's all I want.

But all defraggers are basically the same, when you get down to brass tacks.
All they do is sort files contiguously on hard disks.
So as to what's 'the best' - well, flashy extra features aside, all of them are. Because they all do the same basic job, and they all do it quite well.

It's not about what's 'best'. It's about what's best for the individual.
Because what's best for user A isn't necessarily what's best for user B.

I think I'm going to avoid these 'what's the best ?' threads from now on.
All they really get is opinions based on different users experiences. And you know what they say about opinions... ;)

The best advice we could give is simply this: Sit down one weekend and try a bunch of different programs yourself.
Find the one that is easiest for you to use, or has the features you want. Then you'll know what's the best program [i]for you.
