The Ubuntu team will send you Ubuntu CDs at no charge, for you to install and share. We will cover the cost of shipping the CDs to you as well. The link address is: http://shipit.ubuntulinux.org/ 10 disc cd's

I dont know much about Linux but thought this was worth sharing.
Any thoughts or comments on this offer?

It is good, I got 10 CD from them. Takes a while to get it.

I haven't tried that distro yet, but it certainly looks nice.

Been thinking about ordering a batch of those cds but haven't gotten around to it.

Just installed SuSe and it does look cool.

Had Mandriva installed the other day, t\was nice also but theres some registration stuff needed for updates
or i was too hasty cuz it "didnt work for me under 5 min" so I installed Suse instead.

Gotta get my hands on Ubuntu someday, looks like a experience to have, hehe...

Got some problems to connfigure my monitor in Suse, extremely old piece of shit, and I got like 60Hz for refresh and its killing me.
I can get it up to 70Hz on XP tho, so there has to be a way to get it on Suse too.

Keyboard layout is US which sucks for me cuz i cant get them scandinavial shitz happening...

Other than that the install went really easy, t'was easier than XP Pro by default.
Mandriva was just a tad easier for installing with my hardware tho.

Slack v. 9.1 was much more 'difficult' to install but that was about a year ago.

Linux has cometh a long way.

Sweet.

:D

It's easy as pie changing the keyboard layout in SuSe.

Just have a look through yast or something, it's one of them things I must have just gone through doing without thinking about it, 'cos I can't remember exactly how I did it.

Not on suse now, but if you need help with it I can reboot

right click the desktop / configure desktop / display (tab)

you can either alter the display settings there or you can sax2 which plain sucks.

You dont have to register anywhere using Mandriva to get the updates. Just use the easy urpmi

I got ten Ubuntu kits in the mail today, Hippychick.

One live-cd you can boot from and try the OS without installing, and one installation cd in each kit.

So that works, in case you wondered.
