After downloading a dvd, I unpack the rars and am left with an Image File that Nero, EasyCD and Alcohol doesn't recognise, on my pc only IsoBuster knows what it is and that will only unpack it yet again, so I can then burn the file but I don't want to have to unpack it twice.
I did an online check to see what program recognises it and it came back with Irfan View, is this what I need and is it "clean"(no spyware)?

Does anyone know what else could burn this image file?

you can use daemon tools (http://www.daemon-tools.cc/) to mount the image file or just use nero and burn it to disc. im pretty sure its in the main toolbar under

recorder / burn image

OPEN NERO
CLOSE THE WIZARD
goto recorder at the top
choose burn image

Nope, Nero won't burn it whatever I try to burn it as.

Not trying to be vague, giving all the info I've got, I unpack the rars and get an img file, the only thing that recognises it is isobuster, which will only unpack it again, this will then allow me to use Nero to burn it but I don't want to have to unpack it twice.

Can you guys give me an example of what you have to do(yourselves) when you unpack the rars please, not cdeasy files though cos I can burn them.:)

ps, not sure what you mean by "file extension".

ps, not sure what you mean by "file extension".
If you had a file named: greatinformation.rar then the file extension would be rar.

If you want to actually view the extensions that the files on your harddrive utilize, open any folder and click "tools".

From there: folder options>view

then uncheck the box "hide extensions for known file types". Click "ok".

Alcohol will see it after you add it to the list:
Options/General/Shell Extensions
Check Box, Add Other Extensions...add img..hit OK.
Now 120% will see it..also check the Box if it isn't already: Exchange Icons For Alcohol Default

Unticked the box, it's a .img file.(cheers Izagaia :) )

After loads of Googling, I've found out it's a clonecd, Googled for ways to burn this and got conflicting reports about what you can burn it with and what's the best, what do you guys reckon I can burn it with and what's the best?

Very droll Muchspl.

Everybody goes through the learning process with PC's and all the softwares, bells, whistles and the likes at least a couple of times. What does what, how to do this, that and what not.

We're all "noobs" in one form or another. Me?.. I am a Photoshop/Excel/WinRAR "noob". I will probably be a Nero Burn 6 noob next week. :)

That said, my preference so far lies in Nero 6 for all my DVD/CD burning and video/audio encoding needs. Might not be "the best" however, it is what I am most comfortable with. And I have not uncovered anything thus far that it could not handle.

Download and install CloneCD: http://www.slysoft.com/en/clonecd.html

You can burn the image using that software. Just click the Write from ImageFile button and select your file.

n/p I would always go with ntfs personally, but I burn dvds and fat32 can't handle files over 4GB
