AVI (PAL to NTSC)

I'm creating a custom dvd with avi files, When i try to insert the avi files it says they are in pal so i need to convert it to ntsc.

Any1 suggest a software for this ? (convert the avi pal to avi ntsc)

VirtualDub (http://sourceforge.net/projects/virtualdub) can deinterlace movies, tho, i'm not sure what method the internal feature uses :unsure:

try to find something that uses a Telecide deinterlacing method, it returns the best picture quality. i think you might be able to do it using AviSynth (with the correct filter) as a framserver for encoding, along with some other handy things :unsure:

This is a similar way that I use for converting .avi's from NTSC to PAL before transcoding to judder free PAL DVD

Question: What are you going to be playing these custom DVDs on?

If it is a stand-alone DVD player with divx/mpeg4 playback then most of them will perform realtime PAL->NTSC (or NTSC->PAL) conversion. Otherwise I assume it is for PC, and that doesn't care either way.

About 50% of the stuff I download is NTSC, but it plays back fine on my PAL TV (via my DVD player).

Don't convert unless you absolutely have to.
