i'm looking for a place to get this codec. can someone help me out? every site i go to "if" they offer the codec it's only for trial period only. will this codec be offered in upcoming kcp's? i guess another name for this codec is, "Mpegable AVC 0.10". i even got to the page to get this and once i got to the page it was pretty much blank. nothing was linked or provided. does anyone have a link for this codec? more and more files are coming out that require this and as of now i can't watch them. thank you for any information!

thx, but nothing. i have that link already and went there.

i did finally find a spot and dl'ed and installed it. the file was, "Mpegable AVC 0.10" and it didn't work. has someone played around with this codec to know how it works? i used gspot to see if maybe i was missing something and gspot couldn't identify it. when mpc says it's missing codecs it asks u to go on-line and find them. it didn't find anything. also, it said something about mpeg-2 format . so, i installed that and it's still not playing video. audio is fine. help!?

i've figured it out. so, if someone who didn't know how to do this needs to know.... here u go.

Step 1. AVC decoder - FFDShow

ffdshow link: http://m17n.cool.ne.jp/freeware/mpc/

[step 2-4 install kcp]

Step 2. CoreAAC & AC3Filter (optional, but recommended for AC3 playback)

Step 3. Media Player Classic (MPC)

Step 4. Matroska Splitter - Haali Splitter - It is required for proper mkv playback.

Setting Up FFDShow for proper AVC decoding

After installing ffdshow, go to start - programs - ffdshow - video decoder configuration.

At the top you will see a tab labeled "codecs". Click on that then on the right side of the window you will see H.264 make sure libavcodec is selected and then hit apply; now ffdshow will decode all AVC codecs

Then on the left side of window scroll all the way down to reveal the OUTPUT tab.

Make sure Use Overlay Mixer is checked.

Anamorphic encodes:

Media Player Classic with FFDShow set View -> Video frame -> Override aspect ratio-> 16:9.

Actually, you don't need Haali's matroska splitter to play avc encodes. You only need media player classic (mpc) version 6.4.8.4, which has an internal splitter that handles avc encodes, and not only that, but can play partial mkv files (avc or otherwise), which haali's does not allow. This lets you test a partial file to see if the quality is good or if it's what you want.
