Required software:
Mozilla Firefox (http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/)
Adblock extention for Firefox (https://addons.update.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?id=10)
With Adblock you can block certain images/iframes, you can add those manually or you can add your own filter.
- Go to, and be sure to bookmark this (http://www.pierceive.com/filtersetg//) page. You will find a list of .txt files that contain filters. Download the text file with the latest date as filename.
- Open up Adblock (Tools > Adblock > Preferences) and click Adblock Option in the box that pops up. Go to Import Filters, and find that .txt file that you downloaded. Click open and then ok and your done.
- If you feel like being a bit nicer you can choose, in the Adblock preferences window to hide the ads, and not remove them. This means that the site thinks your viewing them but actually your not. This can help sites which get paid per view and not per click.
- Recommended Adblock settings: (Tools > Adblock > Preferences)
[x] Remove Ads
Adblock Options:
[x] Collapse Blocked Elements
[x] Check Parent Links
[x] Site Blocking
[x] Keep List Sorted
Some websites depend on add revenue to stay online, so if you find a site that you like, be sure to remove the filter for that website.

I do, thats why I posted about it :D
Sometimes you can RIP too much & have to UNRIP it, but thats no biggie...
You just have to pay attention to the Flashing Red Boxes.....even than, sometimes you might RIP into another Layer.

I am still impressed with the above adblocking tweak. For anyone that didn't check out Afronaut's thread, I suggest you do so.
You won't be dissapointed.

Thank you! I love this!
Apparently Adblock is obsolete...
"The development of Adblock pretty much stopped in 2004. When more and more people demanded improvements Michael McDonald came up with Adblock Plus 0.5 — basically a version of Adblock with whitelisting, filter subscriptions and several other useful features."
How is Adblock Plus related to Adblock? (http://adblockplus.mozdev.org/faq.html)
Adblock Plus 0.7 (http://adblockplus.mozdev.org/installation.html)
"dutchblock is a new extension, a buddy for Adblock or Adblock Plus. It retrieves every week the latest blocklist"

the plugin NOSCRIPT rocks
it stops ALL scripts until u accept them so no dodgy ads or indeed anything u dont want!
i preffer noscript than adblock
Another I use is a modified hosts file that binds the most annoying ad servers and cookie trackers to your loopback address 127.0.0.1
Take a look at this site to download a proper hosts file.

thxx for the info mate !!!
BTW there is some sites when u try to ad block them they just keep pop at u
just use the "block frame" and u will be safe cuz the future will prevent the main site from sending any thing to u !!

Great add-on, but I don't use it so I can support webmasters.
