If your motherboard supports SATA I'd recommend mine. (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16827131351)

Coasters can also be due to old firmware. Make sure you have the lastest.

Also checkout this site for some burner reviews: http://www.cdrlabs.com/reviews/

NEC ND-3540 is now available (not shown at newegg) with even greater performance, assuming you can find matching media at reasonable prices.

hmm...just a thought but before you give up on the liteon have you upgraded the firmware...did you buy good media(liteon's are notorious for only liking good quality + media)..Have a look around the cdfreaks liteon section (http://club.cdfreaks.com/forumdisplay.php?f=44) Going to work can't post much more but if you decide to upgrade the firmware I would suggest you backup your original eeprom before you do just incase(utility on cdfreaks forum).I highly recomend the codeguys firmware it really improves burn quality.Good luck Not sure but you may also look at going from a 1633 to a 1653 that may help thru firmware..Have a good long read in the liteon section of the cdfreaks forum...

i've been using an i/o magic 16x dual layer burner with no problems and no need to update any firmware. $100US, picked up locally at CompUSA and never made a coaster.

i must add that i only use it for burning DVDs, which it does quite fast and reliable.
but, i use my lite-on CD burner for everything else as it has a 48x read speed and a 40x write speed.
