View Full Version : Send Infested Cats Things

Okay, I'm sure you're all intrigued by the title of this message.

Well, tonight in the chatroom, Infested Cats was struck with an idea. An experiment of sorts. The idea is simply to "Send IC things". It can be anything you choose, as long as it is yours, and you don't mind parting with it. The item must be autographed, and sent via mail to Infested Cats. In return, IC will take a picture of himself holding the item, and post it on the forum (unless you ask him not to).

To get Infested Cats name and address, please send him a PM. It is at his discretion who he chooses to accept requests from, he may not answer everyone's requests.

So, what can this item be? This is a direct quote from IC himself:

Pick something to send to me. I'll pay shipping granted its not too expensive. Dont tell me what you're sending me. When it arrives, i'll be surprised (to whatever it is I've just recieved), and take a picture of myself with the item.

So, who's up to the challenge? I myself am going to send IC something in the next few days, to get the ball rolling. Let's get to work on this everyone!!

I think IC should first return to SS, so i can finish DL'ing my LAST SONG ! Ive been waiting for ages!!
Then i might consider the favour :D

That's right people. Nikki put it perfectly.

Don't pass up this chance for me to pay you (shipping charges) to send me something of yours!
Remember, if you're going to send it, you must autograph it (it can either be your internet-handle, or your real name), and it can't be anything absolutley vile or absurd. Also, you cannot TELL me what you're sending, so that way, it's a surprise for me, and everyone.

Once I recieve the item, I'll take a picture of me holding/using it.
The "purpose" of the experiment is to see how many people I get to actually participate!

Comon people! Why pass this up! Something like doesnt come along all too often.... :P

shouldn't the person who sends it take a picture too?
and post it AFTER IC posts his just to prove it really was sent trough the mail and IC isn't just buying random stuff and claiming it's from anonymous users? :P < that WOULD be funny ;)

By the way IC, I think that the people who send stuff to you should take a picture of themselves with the object, after which you take a picture too; final proof I think. :)

Infested Cats
04-09-2003, 11:57 PM
ARE you sending me something Bender?

But that's a good idea for the proof that I'm actually recieving things from people!
So, if you want people, you can take a picture of yourself with the object, and send it to me after I announce I've recieved your item.

I am, together with Skweeky, doesn't that count?

Next stage (idea from Skweeky): Sending stuff around!
For example: I (in Belgium) send something to you (US), you send it to MrCall1969 (UK), he sends it to SummerLinda (Netherlands), who sends it to NikkiD (Canada), who sends it to Tilen76 (Slovenia) etcetera, etcetera...

The only thing we have to figure out is what we're going to send around. Imagine all the thousands of useless miles this object will travel! :D
How about a banana in it's various stages of decomposition?

Lets just see how well the "Send IC Things" project goes. Once that is a success (hopefully), then we can start over again.

Agree with that, I propose you pick out the most absurd/stupid/useless object you receive and start to send it all over the world.
But first of all, like you said, let's see if the original idea works. B)

within the floppy were 2 pictures and a message:

Matt aka Infested Cats,

Took me forever to decide on WHAT to send you. It would be so easy to send anything. Why did it seem such a task to think of SOMETHING? I figured it should be something that you might enjoy. Also that is somewhat personal from the sender.

Anyway here is a book (got idea from Curley’s post) that I always liked. It is a bit of a West Coast classic. Hope you like. If you don’t like please return or better yet see if you can pass it on to Curley.

I tried to take a decent picture of me with the book as proof. You can post images or this note, anything you want.

Peace,

Craig

Unfortunatley, the pictures were corrupted upon arrival, but I managed to salvage them a little. Oldmancan, if you want, you can send (email) me the pictures again if you wish! I want to thank you for sending this book, "The Curve of Time." It looks very interesting, and I more than likely will enjoy it. I'm going to crack into ASAP. If you would like me to return it or pass it on to Curley (as soon as I'm finished!), please let me know!

Infested Cats, hope you have a good read. Curley would like to read the "Curve of Time" when your finished it. Please pass it on to her. Maybe you could sign the book.

Curley, You and IC can make your own arrangements. Please sign the book before you pass it on.

Maybe the book will travel around the world a few times.

IC, if you want to keep the book, you keep it - after all, it is a gift for you. I don't want you to feel as though you have to pass it on to me. I can always order it from Amazon. OMC has talked me into reading it anyway, so I was already planning on getting it :)

What ever happened to that whole "Send Infested Cats Things" thing?
Here it is! According to NikkiD, she tried sending me something, and it's either still in transit, or fell through some rift in space, and landed in another dimension.

So, in order to bring this back to life, some lucky person has to get this going. Read through the previous posts to get a feel for what this is, then take notice of the previous items I've received. This is actually quite a fun "experiment!"

Alright! A new package! This one is from Damnatory!!

Lets see...

Ah, me and the box! This is the largest box I've recieved to date!

http://atthebegining.hypermart.net/images/open.gif
I slice the neatly placed tape, and open the flaps

http://atthebegining.hypermart.net/images/paper.gif
Look at all of this wonderful packaging-paper!! YEA!!

http://atthebegining.hypermart.net/images/stuff.gif
Here's the treasure!

The note read:

Infested Cats’: Send me stuff!!!

Matt,
Okay so I wasn’t really sure what to send you, so to begin with I was gonna send just some random things from around the house… When it came down to the question: “Fork or No Fork?” I decided to get a little more crafty… 

So included:

GhostBusters – For Nintendo! Classic! (My signature is on the cartridge!)

Bundle of tiny Glowsticks – to settle that late night urge for funky colors.

Alcohol dispensing cap – Enjoy not spilling your alcohol when you’ve gotten to drunk.

Sharpie Permanent Marker – You always need a Sharpie for something…

Just to make things interesting I included a light bulb, see if it still works!

Hope you enjoy, nice idea by the way. Finding a single item (or many) to send from person to person would be a great idea, I heard mention of this earlier in your thread… Just think of all the miles you could put on that item!!!

Talk to ya on the forum!

Richard (Damnatory)

http://atthebegining.hypermart.net/images/light.gif
Rest assured, the lightbulb still works!

http://atthebegining.hypermart.net/images/cd.gif
Here's the CD that was included

this experiment is excellent. I forgot about the sleeves the old nintendo games came in, they rocked!

What company was used to send the package? (can't tell from the logo) - i'm impressed the bulb made it there in one piece and in working order.

keep it up guys.

(i like the step-by-step commentary on the moment of opening the packages)

Ah kick ass the bulb still worked! (2 points for the USPS!!)

Hope you enjoy, you even got some reading from Kansas City! Good ol' newspaper...

But like I said, great idea for a topic, it makes it more interactive!

I was VERY surprised the light bulb survived. I worked for the post office for about a year and have seen how packages get handled and kicked and thrown around. I allways said i would never ever send a parcel via the post services, but i just broke that promise i guess <_<

OK, I got my stuff, got my photos, and I'll send them tomorrow.

As for sending something from person to person, here's a little story from way back ...

It was about 1975-ish. I was staying in a hostel on the Dutch\ German border, waiting for a "Magic Bus" ride to Morocco. I was sharing a dorm with a couple of Englishmen. One of them gave me a book, "The Book Of Paradox" by Louise Cooper. He told me it was the best book he'd ever read, and wanted to pass it on to me. He said he had been given it in Amsterdam by a Canadian girl, who had asked him to sign it then pass it on, with the instructions to ask the next person to do the same. Inside the front cover were seven names. The book had been all round Europe. I read it on the bus, it really was cool , the ending was brilliant. I gave it to an Australian girl in Casablanca with the same instructions I was given, she was flying back the next day, and vowed to give it to someone on their way to the Americas. That book may well be still winging it's way around the world, I'd like to think so, and I'd like to think 100's of people had read it.

The note UKMan sent read:

Ahh yes, the currency - its 20skr (swedish kronor) probably worth around 2.6US$ - not much, but its the thought right??...........oh well......

Glad to see it all arrived safely. Looking forward to the next package that arrives..... :P :D

Sorry I haven't posted anything in a while... I've been sick. But, I took the day off, so I'm posting Billy_Dean's package!

I recieved the package some weeks ago... I don't remember when I got it, so I'll say it was around the 25th...

http://atthebegining.hypermart.net/images/bd1.jpg
Here's me with BD's package, all the way from Australia!

http://atthebegining.hypermart.net/images/bd2.jpg
I think this is the first time I didn't need to use my knife to open a package

http://atthebegining.hypermart.net/images/bd3.jpg
Ah, here's the treasure!

On the back of the Cairs postcard (which I must note has some beatiful images on it) was a note from BD:

Hi Matt,
I decided to keep this Australian, and far north whre I live. So I included an "ockers" hat with corks to deter flies, an aboriginal fridge magnet, kangaroo sign, aussie flag, Cape York booklet, map of Cairns, and a cyclone tracking map.

http://atthebegining.hypermart.net/images/bd4.jpg
This has got to be one of the coolest hats ever!

And here's some pics of BD:

http://server4.uploadit.org/files/211103-Hat.jpg
http://server4.uploadit.org/files/211103-Things.jpg

Thanks again BD, I loved everything you sent, and nothing beats that hat!
Sorry again though for the delay on posting this!

Oh well. I'd like to start fresh anyway. So, consider this topic re-opened!

Sorry for the delay, folks. I've had the bad migraine brain aids. True story. Every time I stand up, I get a rush of blood to the head and I have to hold onto something or I'll faint. Weird.
