Now I am on a platform which makes virus virutally obeselete for one reason beacuse of the secure base structure and advance permission file structure. Now thats just normal now I took it step far now I have issolated each threads and it can't actually access outside it. This is known as a Nd1 containers.

i am surprised that there isn't bitdefender antivirus.. nowadays a lot of people use bitdefender and are happy.. it's really great antivirus.. it doesn't require a lot of resources of pc and have really big virus base.. so i use it.. but i think who know pc very well can't use antivirus.. only need is fw (firewall).. but then you will need very good fw like zone alarm or outpust.. it's my opinion..

I use Kaspersky..
It take low memory from system and blocks most of the viruses i believe..
I heard about NOD32 But never tried it..
I tried zonealarm which after installation reboot my computer with no reason...
So it's kinda buggy one.....

How come theres no Bitdefender selection in the poll? Been using
BD for some time now. Updates on the hour and no false positives.
Various awards, small resource footprint, etc.
Kasperky is my second choice. Avast for freeware.

Use Nod32. It works great.

I had been using TrendMicro for years and years and was fine with it, but the 2007 version was way too bloated and too much a resource hog to warrant its continued use, so I switch to Nod32 after reading some great reviews on it (and used their 30-day free trail).

Hi.....Just wondering.......What antivirus is the best , and which antivirus do you recommend/use?

shijo
11-22-2007, 05:41 PM
I was using lavasoft ad aware se with avg (less memory usage)
kaspersky is the best but you have to buy it they will find the pirated apps after sometime

but now I am not using any anti virus just using no-script (ff extension) and mcafee site adviser and adblock plus
if I feel my PC slow down I just roll back norton ghost image that is easy takes only 6 min to restore, much less than searching whole PC for virus, and no waste of bandwidth updating virus definitions

in my opinion there is no best antivirus .If u got a virus even if you find it and delete it something will remain in pc to slow it down like a change in registry
just avoid suspected sites it will save a lot of time

AVG is great, but I usually use a Mac. Mac's don't need antivirus software, right?

On all the PCs I have, I use Avast Free Edition. It is free, and I've found that it does a better job than Norton and McAffe. Whenever I do spyware clean-up for people, I install Avast for them simply because I don't understand why people would pay for an anti-virus software when such a good free alternative exists.

On Mac, I don't use any anti-virus. No need, yet.

Before I started using NOD32, which was a long time ago, I used Norton. NOD32 is much better and it increased boot time by alot compared to Norton.

I used Kaspersky for a while (6 mnths) and then converted to NOD32 and love it so far. It is easy to use and is light on system resources which I like.

NOD32 i have tried them all and nothing even comes close.I like AV to stay the fuck out of my way unless they are needed and this is the best for that.Pretty small resource usage and updates every day which is a must.

fist i used antivir; that was about 5 years ago; then avast; then McAffee then kaspersky; and then i found my love; nod32, no viruses since then, no problems at all, and small resource usage;
however the new version, i think it's he 3.0, is not that good as the older one; uses too much resources and the layout is made for amateurs

NOD32. But not all the time. I install it every 2-3 months, fully update and do full system scan. Results are always good. Virus free. :)

At this stage of informations and good developed web browsers, with users self-consciousness, there are no reasons for OS infection. :)

I quit using antivirus after I stopped visiting porn sites. The problem is, viruses don't get sent to Kaspersky and NOD32 right after they're made. They have to be discovered before they can be blocked, which means new viruses aren't affected by antivirus in the first place. I've always found av to be more trouble than it's worth.
