how can i rip audio from a video to mp3?

Is there a program that can rip the audio from an avi/mpeg video file and save it as mp3?

i'm thinking of putting the audio from some seinfeld videos or something on my iPod :)

in virtual dub - open video - file > save wav
then convert it to mp3 using something else

in Cool edit pro - open cool pro - file >extract audio from video - then save as mp3
