I'm after something high performance to cool a 3000XP Barton, sound isn't too important, I'd take cooling over dB(A) at the moment :ermm:

Only specs are Socket A, high performance, UK delivery

*Anyone who recommends a Gigabyte fan will be placed under citizens bannage :ermm:

i would recommend the Coolermaster Aero 7, but i don't think they make them anymore, you could try eBay

i just have a stock heatsink with and 80mm fan adapter on top, it's not really extreme cooling, but it is quiter than the standard fan and about 8-10c cooler, and it cost me about a £1 from Ebuyer

If you're not going to overclock: coolermaster (http://www.coolermaster.com/index.php?LT=english&Language_s=2&url_place=product&p_serial=CP5-6J31C&other_title=CP5-6J31CCPU%20Cooler)

yeah no overclocking, i was thinking about the Coolermaster Vortex Dream 7, though the other suggestions now sound tempting :ermm:

My 3000XP arrived the other day and I still haven't got round to choosing a Cooler :frusty:

Most of the Socket A's from Coolermaster seem to be a bit girly, Noise isn't a problem and I don't want one with a special design that sends air in directions you don't want air going in :ermm:

Please keep us informed.
Did you get the full retail CPU (i.e., w/ heatsink)?

If so, some before and after temp readings would be interesting.

C'mon, turn Scully into the media whore that Sprocket has become.

It's the full retail kit, But I still need a Graphics card and RAM before a POST test can even be done, proper temp readings will be a few months away yet depending on cash flow :ermm: Scully can be a harsh mistress at times, but it only makes things hawter :naughty:

If it's the retail package then it contains a CPU cooler. You said that you weren't overclocking so why not use that?

Pride :snooty: The case is Coolermaster, the case fans are Coolermaster - just to be awkward really

The stock cooler is usually made by Coolermaster.
