Hey guys I was wanting to know all the parts to building a computer exactly because I want to build one and get the new x64 bit xp with it anyways the budget will be $600 - $1200 I want the most I can get with this amount of money. Please if your going to flame or not help don't bother to post because I don't even read them.

Instead of asking for the answers(especially to such a fundamental question), you should try and find the answers. That way you actually learn something.

I read books and magazines to learn about PCs and built my first PC shortly after.

I suggest to choose the processor 1st .. it depends what u want ur computer for

it could be

amd athlon
amd sempro
celeron
pentium 4

the rest... hard drive... CD DVD ROM

Have a look here (http://filesharingtalk.com/vb3/t95966.html) for some ideas. I think his total is just over $1300 + tax, but you could use that as a starting point then look for some slightly lower spec parts, perhaps only 1GB memory and a 3000+ rather than a 3500+.

Definately go with an AMD64 no matter what! :)

What parts do you currently have that will migrate to the new build?
Hard drives?
Opticals?

Spend big on the core components- motherboard, CPU, RAM and power supply and then work in the rest as you can.

Your most fundamental decision will be whether or not to go SLI...I chose not to, betting that the new 512mb cards will keep pace with twin cards of a lesser spec, but I could be wrong.
