Would anyone know why when I burn off my CDs e.g a film of 700mb thier always currupt as in when i watch the film it says cant read sourse from disk?
or something like that.

Even when I try to copy the data to the desktop I get the error so i have to skip a little past the messed up part to watch the rest of the film but there can be more that one part thats fooked...its a real pain in the ass and driving me crazy! :frusty:

Im using the latest version Nero on XP Pro, Using a 52 speed writer (Not DVD burner) I just thought I would say use I use the CD brand "Data write" as all other brands will not write over the speed of 4 speed because if I do my writer makes some funky noises and makes Nero error, wheater this has a link I dont know.

So hope you guys have an answer...cheers

I am just guessing
but when you download a movie it sometimes makes glitches - which i am certain you have seen (square blocks) - i am guessing that it is these glitches whichj are causing the rror in nero (even if you zip it)
you could try to burn it really slowly 4X
or better in virtual dub - search for errors and rerender it it then burn

smarter people will hopefully reply hereafter.

no youll get the same glitches whether its dwnldn dvd, screenrs, cams etc its about
-how the person who rendered the movie originally did it
-glitches while downloading (no the internet is not perfect)
z-if your screwing around while burning or rendering

I C..but Ive never heard of people getting this problem as much as me from just downloading, Im getting this on like 70% of the stuff i burn  surely this has to be some kind of hardware problem

What Brand of CDs are you using..??
I have trouble with "Imation" CDs..I'm lucky if me CD Drive can even see them...when they do I copy all files onto HD & burn on one of my CDs.

try updating the firmware for your cd writer. often manufacturers rush out drives that dont work properly with new media and end up having to fix it in software later.

check first....get latest codecs

possible problem...burner on its way out or needs cleaning
if you burn a lot of disks...life span of burner could be short
(I had to replace mine at 2 years)

borrow a rewritable disk...if it works...then it is your brand of disks
at this point, it could just be overuse and you could get away with
cleaning...dust hardens on unit and acts like sandpaper, it will
cause glitches.

99% has a good point, glitch will also occur if you are trying to do
other stuff at the same time you are burning.

if a disk of a movie worked (that you burned 6 months ago) now
stops working on your machine, it is a good indicator that it is time
to clean or replace burner.(also you could take that disk and see if it plays
on another pc),

keep us updated, as to your status with the problem.
hope this is helpful.

I have the latest Nero :) I think I said that in my first post...oh and cant find anything better sofware wise for the dive.

As for Kazaa2002 I will go through some of the stuff that I havent done yet what u suggested.

To be fair Ive had this writer for like 2 years now so I might just stop being tight and by my arse a dvd writer...finally :P

hmmm first off this doesn't sound so great " do my writer makes some funky noises and makes Nero error, wheater this has a link I dont know."Maybe time to upgrade to a dvd burner...first thing to check go into device manager ...ide controllers...advanced settings..and check if DMA is enabled for the primary and secondary..Second thing to check is aspi layer using Nero info tool...the firmware upgrade is a good idea (but be carefull)...I would also suggest you not multi task while burning.Buy good quality media. The hell with it don't be so cheap spend 60$ and get a dvd burner :) its cheaper in the long run, with the price of dvd's becoming so cheap.:huh:damn just realized nero info tool also tells you if dma is enabled under the configuration tab.Just for a laugh google " dvd burn scan test results"People can become fanatic about getting the perfect burn:rolleyes:

Why didn't you tell us the make/model of the CD burner?

Why did you post in Software instead of Hardware?

... surely this has to be some kind of hardware problem

Well first of all Im pretty sure that name of the writer isent that important

And secondly when i first posted about this problem I was quite sure it was a software problem so thats why I posted here.

Any more questions

EDIT - you have used a quote from the 3rd post from me in this thread...

A make/model is important. It would let us know what we're talking about and maybe we could find firmware for it.

How did I guess it was going to be a Samsung Combo drive. They are all a POS as far as I can see. This sounds almost exactly the problem my brother had with a Samsung combo, different model though.

Even if Samsung know about this as a recurring problem you will be lucky if they bother making a fix for it. They seem to take the view that you bought it so it is your problem, if you didn't want a POS you shouldn't have bought one.

If it is more that 12 months old, just bin it and get a dvd burner.
