Firewire port?

The PlayStation 2 has two USB (http://stuffo.howstuffworks.com/usb.htm) ports and a FireWire (http://stuffo.howstuffworks.com/firewire.htm) port.

Since when do they have firewire ports? Mine doesnt! And I bought it a year ago January!

Some of the earlier ones do, but it didn't get much use so they stopped putting them in a while ago.

a waste of money to carry on making them if they weren't going to get used

Would it have been used for online multiplayer?

No, cause u can buy an online adapter that plugs into the back.
