well you do want the insane amount of 2 GiB

may i ask what you're gonna be using the computer for?
cause you dont need 2 GiB for just ordinary stuff (even games dont need that much)......
are you gon' be doing video editing or something?

If you want Budget ram, that's almost as fast as the Corsair stuff and faster than most of the more expensive stuff. It isn't a recommendation though, I don't know a thing about Rosewill.

[URL] I don't know a thing about Rosewill.
"Rosewill" is apparently the Newegg house (re)brand.
I've been getting lots of Rosewill stuff in NE gift bundles for the last few months.
Some good, some not so much.

I think I'd stay with known brands when it comes to RAM.

If I'm gonna spend two hundred, I might as well spend two-fifty for the brand name/security. :(

What's wrong with just 1 GB?

Nothing at all. I just hate dealing with upgrades, and since I don't wanna have to mess withit for a couple years, I figure.......

well thats an expensive hate you have.......

in a year or so the price for that extra GiB might be half of what it is now.........

I know just what you mean.
By the time you sterilize the field, purify your chakra and sacrifice the goat, well, there goes an entire afternoon.
And that's assuming that you slay the dragon guarding the DIMMs on your first attempt.

I can see how it might take a year or two to work up to such an ordeal.

Gee willikers, lemme tell ya.

Up to my knees in goat blood, I am.

Everyone seems to be upgrading their RAM this week.

I wish more folks were as reasonable as Skizo.

So do the goats.

1GB of ram isn't good enough for me, I run bittorrent with a few large sized files being downloaded and playing cs source at the same time and it kind of has to adjust to the game before it stops freezing on explosions and gun fires.

Are you sure that problem is lack of RAM?

1 GiB of RAM should be more than enough for that, even if you're using Azureus......
Like VB said, are you sure the problem isnt your HDD or CPU?

*eats whole box of Weaties*
*grunts*
*gets out decoder ring*
*decodes message*

if i used it right Clocker is saying that upgrading the RAM isnt that hard, its just case open, comp on its side, cables on the side, pop RAM in.

Why not just let him buy the 2GBS. If he gets 2GBS he will be good for five years. I wish I had 2GBS, producing music hurts my memory, and having multiple instances of the same thing for each track weighs down the computer. I'd do anything for 2GBS.

Fine by me.

Wanna bet?

I'd do anything for 2GBS.
Including setting your RAM timing to near-narcoleptic settings?
AFAIK, no nForce4 board will run 4x512MB modules at 1t.
The DFI LanParty may be the exception to this due to it's extreme voltage options, but most other boards don't have the juice.

The question remains: is the second GB worth having given how far you must knock back your timings to make it run?
Maybe to you and Skizo it is.

Well, I look at the performance tab in the task manager and I had very low memory available, and whenever I free azureus, 550mb comes right back.

I'm downloading a bunch of stuff right now using azureus, and seeding even more, including one movie, one .iso and a couple of gigatorrents. Yet the total hit on my memory is a mere 342 megs, and that's for the entire os, mbm, kav, sygate and ms antispy.

I dunno' what you have been doing, but I'm fairly certain it ain't the ram you need to sort out first.
