so yea if i place something on top of the router like paper, will it mess up the router? cause my internets a little sluggish recently im recieving more then im sending isnt it usually the opposite?

Putting something on top of the router may make it overheat.

It is unlikely to affect its performance, but it could well affect its lifetime.

Logically you shouldn't put ANY drinks on top of electronics unless you like being shocked.
