Soft modding an xbox

i intent to buy an xbox this thursday, and wish to soft mod it, so any help would be appreciated, i remember there used to be a thread about it but it was massive and is missing at the moment, also xbox-scene has far too much reading and worthless info for someone who wants to soft mod it. thanks.
