yea they'll drop as soon the GF 8 serious come out

ill probably get a refurbished one for 80$ like i got my Fx5600 2 years ago... (yea im cheap :blushing: )

but the fx5600 takes everything i throw at it at decent settings, so why change something that isnt broken

Nope. That would probbly be the worst job ever. :wacko:Strange, the way you want to throw money around without reason, I thought you would have been ideally suited.

The reviews I've read show that nVidia has left room on the PCB to add another 256 of memory...which they will probably add ( with other changes) after ATI lays their cards on the table.

Then the two companies will play leapfrog for the next year or so, each trying to top the other.

Since they have already shown pre-production versions of dual and even quad core boards ( with 1GB of DDR3 RAM) we know the stakes are going to keep getting higher.

Historically, this means prices on the lesser ( hard to believe that my three month old 6800GT must now be considered "mid-level" :pinch: ) card should plummet.

Wow..looks like a great improvment over the 6 series..which was great...nice card

I like everything but the price. I had the impression it'd eat more power and make more noise than a 6800 ultra, but it turns out it uses less power, and only hits about 24db.

And since you get better 64-bit support with new forceware-version, at least you got something out of this launch, clocker.

How thoughtful of them.
They render my card obsolete, but give me better drivers in return.

Oh, the irony.

that is my hope that i can pick up a card that was considered 'top level' a few months back but is now a reasonable(ish) price :lookaroun

my 9600 is beginning to crack under the strain of the latest games

oh and I don't think your card is quite obsolete yet ;) You can prolly manage solitaire with the detail turned down and no AA

What do you mean?
Everybody knows.
Crossfire is ATI's response to SLI and the two companies will play "My edick is bigger than yours" for the next few months hoping to cash in at Christmastime.
All the big retailers are already finalizing holiday orders...I wonder what they're planning on?

So what, gainward has an oc'd version out already too, I think, and they are bound to release gs-versions later, those'll be hitting even higher speeds.
