Whenever I use P2P programs such as Mininova, Limewire, Bearshare etc I get a "blue screen of death" after anything from 2 mins to about 30 mins, it doesn't happen after any other program that I use only file sharing

Has anyone experienced the same sorta thing if so what did you do to sort it ?

got spyware?

MarkHewitt

Nope its all fine as far as I know

I run Ad Aware and Spybot

It seems to be some sorta driver issue as it says something like Driver_IRQL_NOT_EQUAL_TO_OR_GREATER_THAN or something but what sorta driver god only knows

IRQ is network related, did you remove some spyware with ad-aware/spybot without removing them via ADD/REMOVE first?
either that or maybe firewall issues

Network related  Does that mean its a hardware prob as opposed to a software one ? would a reformat do the job for instance ? or is it more complicated than that

well drivers are more of a software thing, maybe your firewall is erroring out due to network traffic, or some spyware overwrote windows files in your TCP/IP stack
i'm just guessing here, i could be totally off base, and you're not helping much by not saying if you ripped out some spyware with ad-aware/spybot or saying anything about what firewalls you have installed

google has some info's:

I am not aware of doing what you mentioned, my son also uses my pc but again I don't think he would touch anything like that so as far as I know nothing like that has taken place

There are 2 firewalls there is the standard XP one which I have I believe successfully disabled and there is my primary one which is the firewall in Norton Utilities 2004

see my edited post above for helpful links ;)

EDIT after reading some of the links it looks like IRQ and IRQL aren't related, so it looks like i was WAY off base.
maybe someone else here has a clue.
good luck

cheers for your help :)

I have about 90gb of albums, movies etc and want to expand/share that but until I sort out these screens of death I can't

I never had the prob with my old pc

Did a little search about IRQL (http://www.google.fi/search?q=IRQL&sourceid=mozilla-search&start=0&start=0&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official) on google,
seems like a major problem thought...

..gotta read some more, maybe there's a solution for this.

I just got a new crash it said

Stop: 0X000000D1 (0XFD9F3000, 0X00000002, 0X00000000, 0XF881CDB1)

then underneath it : a7can5wn-sys-address F881CDB1 base at F8816000, datestamp 3ba93301

Then the windows error report said

Temp/WERd0da.dir00.sysdata.xml
Temp/WERd0da.dir00.Mini070405-01.dmp

Any of that ring a bell

stop :0x000000d1 usually indicates a driver conflict
check with manufactures for updated drivers

2 or more (something )is trying to access a irq and your system
does not know what to do...it needs new instructions, which should go first
therefore a
"driver" establishing who goes first or shares may be needed
microsoft in its auto upgrades may have confused your system, router, etc.
don't panic , it happens to all of us.

im having a very similar problem. no blue screen but may as well be!
my pc locks up - cant launch start bar but can launch some programs from desktop. have to reboot pc.
Ive tried lots of different clients, disabled all firewalls etc, formatted pc.
i think it might be the modem but when i first went online i was getting speeds of upto 2000k!
now it just crashes after a few mins. ran spyware/adware /anti-virus programs etc.
I have tried to limit my downloads in case this is a capacity issue but still no joy.

could it be my BT voyager 100 usb modem? BT say this modem is fine for my 4 meg connection (with bulldog). I can surf/play online games for hours on end without being thrown out tho.

Please help!

thanks mate. i was seriously starting to suspect my modem but now im pretty much sure of it! sounds like the same problems im having and it explains why it is so intermitant. im gonna try a mates one out on my pc and if that works im getting straight onto ebay!
hopefully im not counting my chickens before they've hatched!
ive mailed bt previously asking them if i could be having trouble with the modem and they said it would be fine. now it seems like they know it has issues. gits.
