Would that you were correct.

I am a conservative, Dave-not a Republican.

No rain yet, and none expected.

It's broken 100 degrees three days running now, and it's light 'til 2300.

The foreseeable forecast calls for more of the same, and I'm heading to Chicago Friday for a long weekend; get a little of the north end of hurricane Dennis, I guess.

B.-

I'm surprised especially at our humidity; it's got that hot wet-blanket-D.C.-in-August feel about it.

Reminds me of sitting in a non-air-conditioned car outside of 1600 Pennsylvania waiting for Leonid Brezhnev to kiss Nixon goodbye back in '68 or '69.

They built that SOB on a swamp, and Mother Nature will never let us forget, either. :(
That's a very good point.

It's like a tropical rainforest here. To make matters worse, where I live I've got every type of bug imaginable. There are spiders here with red asses turned up like scorpions. I'm trying to get a good picture of it to send off for identification.

Is it a mostly black spider with an elongated red abdomen and legs and does it jump?

This has to be one of the hottest summers on record I'd wager - either that or it feels like it because I don't have air conditioning anymore.

Today isn't too bad, it's 31C, 37C with the humidity, it's just that there's no breeze. There hasn't been a breeze in a few days. That's really unusual being on the lake. I'd imagine it's a bit hotter in the cities, it's usually a few degrees cooler here (thanks to the great lakes). Keeps threatening to rain, but it still hasn't - it's been almost a month now, and we've gotten about five minutes worth in total, even though we had thunder and lightning for almost 3 days. Weird weather. This is the crap that gives me migraines. I need rain goddammit.

It's about 30C here, and so humid just walking around feels like swimming.

Fortunately there was just a big clap of thunder, so maybe we'll get rain soon.
Least, I hope it was thunder.

Edit: yep, here's the rain.

The spider is all black except the completely red abs (turned upwards).

When you get close to it, it raises up like a tarantula. However, the spider is much much smaller.

In the Upper Penninsula of Michigan, right at the head of Keweenaw Bay.

You're about 16 miles up the shoreline on the other side of the bay, vid-I should have mentioned there is a crossroads called Keweenaw Bay there.

Keweenaw Bay also, and more properly, refers to the body of water we live on.

Get an image for L'Anse, instead; the big plant just east of the head of the bay is where I work.
do you live in a house boat then?????

is this the plant? there are a couple of possibilities.

Incorrect.

There is a brand-spanking new electrical substation whose construction was begun about April of last year and brought on-line in November that isn't there; neither is my new gatehouse.

Hi, everyone. :) j2k4, I am glad you started this thread.
I thought that the high temperature was just where I live.

I know how you all feel, cause it's been like hell here for months now.

The weather station are saying it's 83F or 90F, but that's not true.
With air conditioner inside my home has been 90F or more. The real
temperature in the outside thermometer was reading 116F. It's hardly
imposible to breath.

j2k4 and every one in the US, take care of yourselves. Cause guess what?
Hurricane Emily, is heading your way. :fear: Mother Nature is angry.

Too hot this year.
