The first funeral of a victim of the London bombings has been held.

Shahara Islam (20) who died in the attack on the number 30 bus was buried yesterday afternoon. A statment from her family said that "She was an Eastender, a Londoner and British, but above all a true Muslim and proud to be so".

Earlier that day prayers had been said for her at a Mosque in east London. Addressing the several thousand worshipers the Iman said "Killing innocent people is not allowed in Islam. It is one of the major sins". "These people who committed the atrocities have abandoned justice and resorted to a heinous crime".

I thought this was a particularly nice touch last night.

Boxer Amir Kahn, a British muslim, dedicated the victory on his pro debut to the victims of the London bombings. He also chose 'Land of Hope and Glory' for his walk to the ring.

Exactly the kind of thing which is needed IMO.

It's funny how sport can often transcend divisions.

Except if you're Neil Lennon, obviously.
