A fan only moves air.So if your air is hot then all youre doing is blowing hot air into yo chip :smartass:

the air is coming from behind the pc. i took the panels off all the pci slots and stuck the fan there, tilting slightly up

Get a lovely big pint of ice cold cider and sit it near the entry air vents of your computer. Remember it has to be replaced frequently with another ice cold pint of cider. Drink the ones as they lose their cool slightly.:)

just realised. it may not be the GPU overheating, it may be the north bridge.
