XBOX 360 is "out"

First Xbox 360 seen in the wild It’s pretty common for kids to go trolling on game forums and make obnoxious claims such as having a go on the Xbox 360 in their own home. Well, this thread on Gamespot started that way, except the kid actually backed up his claims with these photos:

Now the kid is begging to get the thread deleted (maybe he found out what an NDA is), but the cat is already out of the bag. Apparently his step dad just started working for Microsoft under the title of Regulatory Compliance Manager, and is currently hardware testing the Xbox 360. The wires coming out the top are for such testing. The hardware is apparently complete, and although there were no 360 games to test, he gave Halo 2 a spin in backwards compatibility. He is claiming the power supply is external, and is enourmous. He also raved about the user interface/dashboard and the feel of the controller (and this coming from an admitted PlayStation fan, so it must be good).

You are a damn lucky kid, but I hope you didn’t just cost your step dad his new job.

Heh I bet microsoft loves the pre-release pubicity, for all we know they leaked this info out on purpose to start stiring things up for pre-orders. I doubt the dad will lose his job really.

True, but he doesn't have any Xbox360 games, which kinda ruins it. I feel bad for his dad though, from what I heard is that he just moved in (thats why there is nothing in the apartment) and went through his dad's stuff and took the xbox360. He then posted a pic of his dad's id card, which pretty much gets him fired.:mellow:

It looks weird to me too. It's just too sharp of an edge where the console meets the carpet. But, you never know. Maybe Microsoft wanted this leaked just for publicity.

And no, it doesn't look photoshopped to me, and does anyone really believe the console looks like the final versions will look? from what I can see it doesn't have a decent paintjob, probably more labels than the final ones will have, and, oh yeah, big-ass wires sticking out the top.

It's for testing, it's what the first post in this thread says, why would it have to look or be wired up like the final version at all? :blink: He also says it has a huge external psu, that doesn't sound like a finished product to me.


I dunno' if it's really some hyping on microsofts part, or if the kid wasn't allowed to use it, but I can't see anything that screams "fake" to me.
The fact that it looks kinda' unfinished makes it more believeable to me, if anything.

If you look closely to the pic , you'll see the color i black and not white, or its either remove or so.. And remember the frontal part of the 360 can be removed and replaced with another one of another color..

maybe there is no LED in there, as the light is pretty unneccesery somthing that is in testing.

as its in testing, the circuit might be faulty, and may be causing the light to not work.

or they jusr might not of connected the power light, cos in somthing like a ps2, you can pull the power light out, and the ps2 still works, same wit xbox lol.
