hi,

how do i configure my browser or anything to block all websites except for a selected few like Yahoo/Hotmail/etc?

probably search for parental control programs
(i thought of maybe using the hosts file but listing every ip in the world except for a few would be......)

i'm talkin bout blocking a wide range of sites, no exclusion
only a selected few should be allowed access

A parental control can be used to block all sites, while allowing a select few, research parental control programs such as the one built into Norton Internet Security.

Ok, I'm using Maxthon Browser, but I guess this might work onto other browsers.

Here what you do.

Options> Maxthon Options...> AD Hunter> Content Filter> Black List

From there add "*http:*". By adding "*http:*" to the "Black List" it will block all the website(s) that starts with "http:", which is most of the websites.

Then at the right to the botton "Black List" you can see "Expection List". Thats were you add the websites you want to access. (Example: Google, type in "*http://www.google.ca*". Anything in google you can access.

Remember: to add in (*) at the start and end of the website.

my 2 cents.
Get a firewall, block all execpt trusted web sites. I can't recommend a firewall for you as I use a mac. But I'm sure that norton could do this.
