It's a big deal for Americans. And Jeremy Clarkson.

Order of importance:

The Space Shuttle.
Americans.
Eugene from Big Brother.
Jeremy Clarkson.

How did I do

Who's Eugene and Jeremy?

Not all Americans care about the space shuttle. I remember it being a big deal when I was younger and yeah that time the O-rings screwed up.

No, not all. Just the vast majority, it seems.

Also, I read Deception Point recently. Space exploration is a big deal for you guys.

I doubt it's the majority.

It's media hype.

See just 'cause the media makes a big deal out of it and there are some spectators watching it, it doesn't mean the majority of American's are into to it.

It's barely a conversation piece "around town" and "at the office".

I reckon it's the majority.

I'd do a poll here but the Europeans would feck it up

If the poll, that only Americans could reply to, read; Would you care if China (or Russia) suddenly became the dominant country in space exploration?

I'd care a lot.
I'd care.
I'd care a little.
I could care less.
I wouldn't care at all.

I reckon that the mean colour would be orangy red :smilie4:

I think its quite interesting it went ahead considering they didn't fix the problem which caused the first launch to be cancelled.

I don't feel it's an American thing but a personal thing. I find all space exploration fasinating and I would like to be alive if man ever makes it Mars.
When I was young I lived in Utah where they do all the maufactoring of the boosters and where the O rings where made and I went to most the test firings it was something I will always remeber.

Here is a link to the coverage from NASA

Then you misunderstand. It's a personal thing whether you find space exploration interesting, I certainly do. However, I don't care who does it, so long as someone does.

I believe the mjaority of Americans would feel slightly miffed if they weren't global leaders in this sphere.

I had a good view from my front yard :)
also, they had a camera installed on the shuttles external tank, and there was a nice view of External tank separation

Well when ya put it that way....Americans would like to be dominant in everything probably. :ermm:

Still ain't much of conversation piece. I mean I want us to dominate the Olympics too but I don't really watch it.

I wish they's poll Americans and ask whether they'd trade off something important like a balanced budget for space exploration.

You could get rid of Space exploration for the next 40 years and not fix what fuck-nut did to the budget

Capricorn One about a fake Mars Landing all set in a sound stage in the desert. hmmm makes one wonder

I wonder if they put a giant cup holder in the space shuttle, and what kinda 'gas' (its a liquid ffs  ) it takes
