security updates will be anything falling under "critical" in inwdows update.

Hey sports fans it gets better you can not enable auto updates after this authentic check , dirty buggers :lol: Believe me I tryed, turn on auto updates before you d/l the newest updates and you should still be able to get the critical updates . :)

Your one of the lucky ones ? Pre sp2 or "cough" a legit copy ? Well some of us are not so lucky but imput is appreciated , because I for one was stumped on the invalid key responce. Saying this key was not issued by Microsoft . If you have a better trick or crack please share . :) My PM 'S are MT at the moment ! :)

Both entries open the same windows application. I deleted my shortcut in the start menu>all programs area for "Microsoft Update" and kept the one for Windows. I replaced the outdated icon for Windows Update with the new MS one though. :D


However, so far my updating and using Windows Validation with the updating service through my current PID and key, Izzy reports all systems, "go fly". :cool:

i have auto update enabled. my xp is using a XP Corp with SP2 slipstreamed. i dled it a long time ago, around when sp2 came out. :blink: :blink: update works just fine for me :D :D I RULE! :01: :schnauz: :01: :schnauz:

No I don't think so , why would it . If you have a copy of pro it will have a s/n . Can you validate that copy only one way to try. But I would follow Andrew's advice and use his trick after you clean install.

Well.............. screwed me up enought tho , I can't enable auto updates not that I liked it anyway but still pisses me off . I'v installed on over 20 computers with different s/n # tho but still the phone is going to ring off the wall. :lol: Glad I'm leaving for holidays on Sunday. But still bothers me that my friends and uncle Bobs neighbour's are being inconvinienced. :D Wish I could find a way to charge them or something but that would be against my filesharing religion .

By that time it will be Vista tho probably who knows ? :)



I'm not trying to be snotty but will cross that bridge when I get to it. I would rather buy a new computer than pay Microsoft money for a O/S . I'll make sure I get it with my new computer some how.
