It's simple really.

Some folk don't understand that financing space travel while the economic deficit becomes ever wider is really fucking stupid.

Therefore a smokescreen has been created http://moderation.invisionzone.com/style_emoticons/default/icke.gif

Well, actually: http://www.crystalinks.com/moonsoil.jpg

And we do need to get back up there one day. If we ever want to explore the galaxy then the moon would make for the best place to launch an expedition from.

If everyone in China stood on a chair and then jumped down at the same time, the resultant shock wave would cause a massive tsunami that would completely destroy the Pacific US coast.

They know this. They'll do it if you piss them off.

Arse, no wonder that they are half-arsed with their nuclear arsenal.

Don't forget the He3.

Lots of very cheap power that could solve a lot of issues if we only knew how to extract it.

There were 6 manned landings between July '69 and December '72. (it should have been 7, but Apollo 13 never made it..)

Then they scrapped the program and started work on the Shittle Shuttle.

EDIT: Which incidentally can't even go as far as the moon. S'Rubbish, probably because the bathroom tiles have been a bit poorly grouted (or something).
