If you searching with a really long keyword (50-100 letters) then that can happen sometimes.

Probably u have a dynamic IP address (ur IP address changes every so often). And it just so happens u got an IP that someone else had who was screwing with google.. Just wait for a new IP or until Google lets u back in.

And checking for viruses doesnt seem like a bad idea... might as well do it in the mean time.

That happened to me when I was using a proxy (from Mexico, as I recall). It was fine when I swapped proxies.

I think you use one of your ISPs proxies to connect so they're just wanting you to confirm that you're a human. It's to prevent computers doing nasty, automated stuff to Google.
