Yet the other workaround (disabling WGA in IE>Tools>Manage add-ons) still works. ;)

I just went to update and it didn't ask me to do that. Of course there wasn't anything new so maybe that comes after you select what you need

My Trixie and Greasemonkey workarounds still work just fine.

You might have have auto updates enabled so you weren't asked . Try updating manualy then follow the (disabling WGA in IE>Tools>Manage add-ons )
advice from Guillaume.

I'v been on holiday for the last 10 days so was curious about this issue , came home to two panic phone messages and one e-mail about this problem. But the WGA fix is probably easier to explain to nOobs. :)

I just updated and with the update the Windows validation tool was installed. I then re-booted and looked to turn off the validation tool as explained previously, only to find that I do not have "manage add-ons" under "Tools". I can't turn the validation tool off. Did Microsoft now remove this option? help!

Same thing for me, but I think I might have another work around :D

I'm running Windows 2000 Pro with IE 6.0.2800.1106

Well, I was I'm about to reboot. Hopefully everything goes as planned. If so, I'll post what I did.

Update:
Rebooted and ran the UMPNP vulnerability check and the updates were installed because I'm no longer vulnerable. :)

Has Microsoft fixed the JavaScript Exploit?

I find it another way but this give you a legit validation code
u have to use 640pid keygen windows xp pro vlk and change the range from 640-0 to 64-0. then make a key and change the key with keyfinder. then go to validation and see what it does. ooo legal ah?
ok the disanvatage is that u have to do it every time u want to update.cuz the 640 old key will come back after u reboot.

Correct me if im wrong, but I think the Genuine Windows Validation is only for XP and not 2000

With (a legal) win98SE I had to copy and paste a code I got, when I wanted to download something off their site, less than a week after the genuine valdiation thing had been implemented.

I believe the Windows Genuine Validation tool has been updated again. On my last visit to the site it installed a new tool. The disable add-ons trick with Windows Genuine Validation seems to have been fixed its now unable to be enable and disabled(greyed out)...I'm still able to update fully(legal key :whistling)...But I have heard of some people who are having problems. There does seem to be a patch floating around.

You have to do this everytime ? What a pain I kept closing my browser instead of using the back button , but yep piece of cake . Was surprised I had 10 updates to install, alot to do with Excel I'm thinking .

Why not just tell the WGA not to update in the first place =\
