I can't offer my own thoughts since I've never used either of these that I can remember, but I can point you in a good direction.

I've use the verbatim dvds... They are supposedly very good and long lasting, and I've never had a problem with them

Haven't used Verbatim's DVD's but I have a stack of their CD-R's and they work just fine.

I've been under the impression that Verbatim is considered to be one of the "quality" manufacturers :)

I had a bunch of Ridata's or Ritaek's, I forget. but they worked really well. I liked them.

Verbatim disks are very high quality but highly over-priced.

Don't particularly like the dye (by Mitsubishi Chemical I think) used in Verbatim disks, it needs more energy and consequently makes my burner a little hot.

I prefer disks using Ritek G05 dye (Ridisc Xtreme), I can even burn the 8x rated disks at 16x and still have my burner stay cooler than with the Verbatim dye.
