    Telstra Corporation Ltd has confirmed it has reached agreement with the federal government to progressively disconnect its copper network and participate in the roll out of the national broadband network (NBN).

    Telstra said the agreement will deliver approximately $11 billion in replacement revenue, through disconnection payments, and new revenues, through payments for access to its infrastructure.

    There will be no upfront payment, but rather payments over many years, it said.

      Yes I think this is the clincher that the detractors will now find impossible to prevent. Both Telstra and Optus agreeing to retiring their ageing infrastructure and using NBNCo's. Roll on nbn yowser! yowser!

      WTF! NBN is a great idea but the examples shown in that video are just not possible in the near future. Telecommunication to Indonesia - a third world country? WTF!

      I didn't interpret the intent to be that they were connecting to Indonesia.It was more about collaboration in areas with limited population and resources and the teacher was an Indonesian language teacher living in Australia.
