iOS 4.3.4 PwnageTool Jailbreak Released

A jailbreak for the latest iOS version from Apple is now available, according to a knowledgeable source in hacking iDevices.

Made available hours after the release of Apple’s iOS 4.3.4 and iOS 4.2.9 security updates, the PwnageTool jailbreak only applies to the former iOS version (for GSM devices), not the latter (which targets CDMA iPhones).
Also worth noting is that, although this iOS 4.3.4 jailbreak is supported by PwnageTool 4.3.3 with the help of some additional software, it currently doesn’t work with the iPad 2.

Custom PwnageTool bundles allow users to jailbreak any other device running iOS 4.3.4 (from iPhone 3GS to iPod touch fourth-generation, as well as the iPad 1), and at the same time preserves their baseband for an Ultrasn0w unlock, according toRedmond Pie.

The source claims to have tested this “tethered” jailbreak and confirms that it is 100% usable on the aforementioned devices.

Since the hack is “tethered,” users will have to boot it into the jailbroken state every time they reboot their device afterwards.

Since PwnageTool allows users to preserve their iPhone’s baseband, users can jailbreak without fear of losing support for their carrier of choice.

However, users must exercise caution as these hacks are not confirmed as 100% reliable by those who coded the actual jailbreak tools (i.e. the iPhone Dev-Team).

With that out of the way, the ingredients for achieving a jailbreak for iOS 4.3.4 are: PwnageTool 4.3.3; iOS 4.3.4 IPSW; iTunes 10.3.1; Mac OS X; PwnageTool bundles for iOS 4.3.4; and tetheredboot utility.

Users will need to modify PwnageTool in order to make the jailbreak work on iOS 4.3.4.
