Anonymous plans to 'kill' Facebook on November 5

THE "Anonymous" internet hacking group is planning to "kill" Facebook and has announced the date it will attempt do so, in a statement gaining prominence today.

In a YouTube video, the hacking group warns, "Your medium of communication you all so dearly adore will be destroyed."

"If you are a willing hacktivist or a guy who just wants to protect the freedom of information then join the cause and kill Facebook for the sake of your own privacy."

The group said in its message that "Operation Facebook" would be begin on November 5. It claimed the social network, based in Palo Alto,California, provides information to "government agencies" so they can "spy on people".

While not necessarily a single entity, "Anonymous" links hackers across the word with the goal of committing acts of civil disobedience online.

Most recently, the "AntiSec" hacking group - linked to "Anonymous" - claimed last weekend that it had "defaced and destroyed" the websites of scores of US police agencies in retaliation for the arrests of cyber attack suspects.

Not so sure about killing.....But it would be great if they stop facebook even for a day..... my brother most of the time spends in facebook while stopping my download and it really pisses me off...And i am the one who is giving the net-bill....

I think what anon posted is true....and when someone steals, does he say it out loud "I am stealing" or "I'll be stealing, so guard more carefully"....

I wish they couldn't do it, Facebook is a place where all mentally retarted, pathetic beings dwell, it's their own little corner which has prevented spreading it elsewhere.

Have a look at the last comment, everything before it is first thing I read after waking up. Fucking morons.

Two things I find wrong with this statement; How is killing facebook "protecting freedom of information"? Seems to me to be just the opposite. Secondly. if anyone is that concerned about their privacy, they should refrain from posting personal shit on Facebook & all other social websites. Actually, they should probably avoid the internet altogether...

No, but if they announce it, giving facebook plenty of time to prepare themselves, and are successful, it would be really big news wouldn't it.
