Activision hunting down Modern Warfare 3 pirates

Impatient gamers have already managed to get their hands on leaked copies of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, with pirated versions springing up online -- but if you mess with the bull, you get the horns, and Activision is the biggest load of bull around.

The publisher is seeking out pirates like old fashioned bounty hunters, physically rolling up to people's doorsteps to demand they delete any illegally obtained Modern Warfare 3 data. Refusal to comply carries the risk of a $5,000 fine and a permanent online ban from the game.

This particular spate of piracy seems to have been traced to a Canadian shipping warehouse, where an employee stole disc two of the PC version and uploaded its secrets.

Of all the videogame companies to mess with, Activision would be nowhere near the top of my list. I have a strong feeling that Bobby Kotick's got no problem cutting a person.

Now that BF3 is out, CoD is doomed although I suppose the little kids "Might" still play the CoD series

little kids? Same demographic buddy, and I think with Black Ops, their sales surpassed that of MW2. I agree the game has gotten progressively shittier, but doubt there will be a shortage of people buying it.

Like the other guys said, the same little kids that are playing BF3 are definitely playing CoD as well. So no I don't see how the CoD series will be doomed. Not that I give a fuck though. I'd personally like to series like these fail altogether so devs could start putting their efforts into games that are more unique.

There really has not been a real space sim gem in a long time. Eve, X3TC, all have their flaws. Would like to see these larger corporations develop a space sim that's truly worth playing.

You obviously haven't been on XBL in the past 8 years.

There are still hardcore MW fans that will buy it open day no matter how brown the shit is.

In the U.S. Alone the pre-order sales for mw3 xbox360 alone... have surpassed 4 million. Thats just pre-orders not even counting the sales the day of release and thereafter... Their servers are gonna be running like shit the day of release I would imagine.
