• TPB Preparing Launch Of Updated PirateBrowser: A New Era Begins

ThePirateBay, which has seen it’s share of the spotlight in the past, has had consistent pressure on their domains once again in recent days. Since TPB first opened doors they have had nearly 20 different domain extensions. In the past 2 days alone, TPB has gone from .sx, to .ac to .pe. The .SX belonging to the tiny island of Sint Maarten, .ac belonging to the UK’s Ascension Island and .pe belong to Peru. The most recent .pe domain will only be a temporary solution as Peru authorities will be soon to seize this domain as well. As a result ThePirateBay will move to a new extension shortly. If they were able to acquire thepiratebay.so or thepiratebay.ag it would be ideal. These are two of the safest locations (Angola & Burma or Somalia) to register domains and it would make sense if the ship attempted to sail there.

In response to the aggressive tactics that have been directed towards the infamous torrent website, TPB officials announced that they are working on a decentralized “Pirate Browser”. The Pirate Browser will be a standalone application and also available as a plugin with popular browsers Google Chrome, IE and FireFox.

“They should wait for our new PirateBrowser, then domains will be irrelevant. Once that is available then all links and sites will be accessible through a perfectly legal piece of browser software and the rest of it will be P2P, with no central point to attack via the legal system.” An insider told TorrentFreak.

Once TPB officially releases the new Pirate Browser to the world, the focus will then be shifted off of physical domains. No longer will the effectiveness of Brein and such anti-piracy groups that have taken credit for the consistent domain issues in the past have an effect.

This will be the first time that a website of this magnitude has taken the steps to decentralizing their entire physical presence in such a manner. With governments and authorities worldwide illegally seizing domains, the future is, at least for a time, going to be using services such as the “Pirate Browser”, for safety purposes and to avoid annoying disruption. This is considered to be a major step forward in the fight for internet freedom.

The aggressors have once again morphed the industry. Thanks in part to large anti-piracy groups such as the MPAA, factions of the United States Government, Brein and other parties that have been influencing the aggressive takedowns for a decade now. As a result, they have ushered in a new era. An era where the simple and easy approach of removing a physical web presence will no longer be afforded to them.

“By their actions they finally brought on the next generation of decentralized services,” TPB concludes.

It should be noted that TPB has already launched a Pirate Browser at http://piratebrowser.com. However, the new browser will expand beyond this.
