• DNF ''Dances On Line of Decency,'' Cost $30M

Broussard lost up to $30 million of his own finances in developing Duke Nukem Forever.
Thursday CVG said that Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford wouldn't let the London press film portions of a new Duke Nukem Forever trailer because "it dances on the line of decency." 2K Games made a similar move during Duke's big reveal at PAX 2010, kicking video cameras out of the mini-theater once it began showing another trailer.
"We don't want our friends at Take-Two to be punished by our creativity," Pitchford told the press, adding that the ESRB and PEGI would likely not approve of the clip's showing. According to CVG, the trailer contained bare breasts, strippers and poles, g-strings, gratuitous swearing, and a giant alien getting sacked in the family jewels by Duke himself. "Oh, and Duke being pleasured by two women at once," reads the report.
Pitchford also said that ex-3D Realms boss George Broussard lost "20 to 30 million dollars" of his own pocket money thanks to the extensive development on the Duke Nukem sequel He recalled the day back in May 2009 when news of 3D Realms' closure hit the Internet, saying that it sucked being in Dallas because many of his friends suddenly lost their jobs.
"I spoke to George Broussard and he said, 'Randy, this is the worst days of my life' but you could hear in his voice there was more," he said. "This was 12 years of his life--try and imagine what you've achieved in 12 years. Gearbox has made 15 games in that time."

He added that Broussard wasn't poor by any means, however Duke Nukem Forever took its toll on his personal finances. "I don't care who you are, that's a hell of a lot of money," he said. "He was committed to Duke to the point of insanity... and now Duke was dead. He decided he would rather have it burn than have a bad version of the game come out."

Broussard is still involved with the project, however it's unknown as to what extent. The game is finally due to arrive in 2011.

When it finally actually comes out in 2011 sometime, if it's critically panned and has a bad reception, after all the waiting people have done it would be a disaster for all the parties involved.
