• Chronic Dev Team unleashes greenpois0n, untethered jailbreak for 4.2.1

It's finally here, folks. The Chronic Dev Team has put out the latest version of greenpois0n that allows you to free your iDevice running 4.2.1. What's different about this jailbreak? Glad you asked. This time 'round, the program will let you perform an untethered jailbreak -- you can finally reboot the device without having to re-jailbreak. Be warned though -- this build was rushed out and we haven't tested any devices on our end. At the time of this writing, the software is only available for Mac. Oh, and unlockers, don't update to 4.2.1 if you plan on swapping sim cards in the future. Hit the source link to get started.

To be fair, redsn0w had this first. They already have an untethered 4.2.1 with the exact same stipulation... mac only.

It seems irrational to release the untether exploit now, since 4.3 is on the horizon. Still, I'll certainly enjoy finally getting a free "Find my iPhone" account once they roll out a Windows version of this (that works).

Also it's worth noting that this release is apparently buggy and isn't working for most users. I'd hang on for a day or two until they iron out a few of the bugs.

I'll remain on 4.1 for some time before upgrading to 4.2.1 or 4.3.

Seeing how bad many tweaks and apps perform in combo with newly released FW-updates I plan to stick to 4.1 until I'm absolutely sure every bug is ironed out.

According to their twitter it's expected to be out by midway through next week.

      Edit: it's out now.
