BEIJING — Fears were growing Saturday for the 239 people aboard a Malaysia Airlines flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing that vanished over the South China Sea, possibly while in Vietnamese airspace.
International authorities in the region have launched a search-and-rescue mission but Malaysian officials said they could not confirm reports that the plane crashed into waters near Vietnam.
Malaysia Airlines CEO Ahmad Juahari Yahya said there was no indication that the pilots sent a distress signal. No wreckage has been spotted.

In its ongoing war against online piracy, the MPAA is currently recruiting new soldiers. One of the open positions that caught our eye recently is that of an “Internet Analyst,” tasked with manipulating media files and monitoring social networks, communities and forums. For those still in school the MPAA also has a job opening for an unpaid summer intern to assist with various “content protection” projects.

CAIRO — The Egyptian military said Wednesday that it had ousted President Mohammed Morsi and suspended the country’s constitution. Armored cars, tanks and troops deployed in the capital in what advisers to the president described as a coup.
In a scene reminiscent of the earliest days of the Arab Spring, tens of thousands of Egyptians who had demanded the president’s ouster staged a jubilant celebration in Tahrir Square — dancing, cheering and setting off fireworks.

Evidence of several internal projects at Valve including Half-life 3, Left 4 Dead 3, Source 2 and many others have been discovered from a mailing list found within project management and bug tracking software, Jira.
Valve were recently forced to react to an issue with Jira. A metaphorical window was left open which allowed people to publicly access Valve's internal tickets. Valve were quick to shut down public access to their Jira database, so we recommend you don't attempt to access it.
The images submitted to us from an anonymous source show several mailing list groups of interest, although we do not have the full list at this stage. The first image shows the mailing group for "Half-life 3" including 42 employees in this cabal, which we believe to be quite a significant number, given Valve employ approximately 300~ individuals. The names of individuals in this cabal are from various development disciplines, many of which you're likely to recognise.

ISTANBUL/ANKARA, June 2 (Reuters) - Tens of thousands of people took to the streets in Turkey's four biggest cities on Sunday and clashed with riot police firing tear gas on the third day of the fiercest anti-government demonstrations in years.
The din of car horns and residents banging pots and pans from balconies in support of the protests resonated across neighbourhoods in Istanbul and Ankara late into the night, as hundreds of demonstrators skirmished with riot police.
Roads around Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan's office in Istanbul were sealed off as police fired tear gas to push back protesters, and police raided a shopping complex in the centre of the capital Ankara where they believed demonstrators were sheltering, detaining several hundred.

after some days of downtime, we're happy to inform the forum is back up.
The database's status was reverted to August 11th, 2012 due to newer backups being corrupted or not available. All posts and threads made afterwards have been lost. If you registered after that date, you will need to do so again.
A lot of you must have probably heard about Mulve, a new piece of software that's already gaining popularity (and some controversy) due to its ability to download single music tracks at very high speeds from VKontakte.ru's server pool, without requiring users to upload anything else than an HTTP request.

Google has just confirmed that it fired one of its engineers for violating internal security policies, effectively confirming a Gawker report that detailed how former employee David Barksdale had used his clearance to access private data of multiple people, including four minors. Barksdale has been dismissed for the offense, and Google says that it is "significantly increasing the amount of time we spend auditing our logs to ensure those controls are effective".
