Are Newsgroup speeds better than other filesharing methods?

I've never used newsgroup software, so I was wondering if you get better download speeds on newsgroups? I'd start using them if so.

Helllll....ya....It is da best!!! I max out my connection and to d/l a 4.7GiB DVD movie takes around 2 hrs and 20 mts....but if I use other ways...it can take anywhere from 6 hrs to 1 week!!!

ok im on a 5mb line and i get around 600-630kbps

My speeds seem to be up and down but Im assuming thats my ISP.
These days I dont often max out.

I max out my 3meg line, 360k a second. From my ISP's new servers. They carry all decent binary groups :D
