Hrm... I would say around 1200-1400$(CDN)? (I got a quote on almost the same system)
Re: How much would this go for?
where are you buying this from
Re: How much would this go for?
http://cgi.ebay.ca/High-Performance-...QQcmdZViewItem.
But im thinking about going to there site a customizing one. My budget is 1500 cad. It would be nice if someone reccomended me something nice inside of my budget.
their site : http://www.etccomputer.ca/eShop/default.asp
it looks like they give the most bang for the buck.
Re: How much would this go for?
Are you capable of assembling a PC/loading the OS yourself?
Re: How much would this go for?
Yes itll take me awhile but i should be able to do it.
Re: How much would this go for?
Then don't buy a pre-built system from someone else.
You'll be paying for their labor and their profit on the parts if you do.
What kind of machine do you want to end up with?
Re: How much would this go for?
im thinking amd x2 dual core caz its 64 bit and it has good ratings. I was going to wait for next month but then the price will only increase and i heard its not much of a noticeable update. I just want a decent computer that will last for a while. It should be able to play games but it doesnt need to be overkill. What do you reccomend clocker you seem to be the expert :)

I'm flattered (and you're wrong).
I just happen to be an opinionated guy with some spare time to act like I know shit.
[/humble act]
Get the best s939 motherboard you can afford ( I like DFIs for sheer performance and Asus/Gigabyte for easy setup and stability).
Get good RAM (Patriot?) and a lot of it.
Processors are a toss up.
Dual cores are probably the wave of the future but they don't clock as well as the singles, in particular the Opterons ( which are amazing bang for the buck IMO) and only very specific apps truly take advantage of dual cores as yet.
The 7800 series of nVidia cards are good value for the money but ATI has some very competitive high end cards as well.
nVidia has great driver support and always seem to work.
You'll need a decent PSU to run all this goodness...Antec Neopower is a classy mid-range unit and has worked well in several of our shop builds.
I had one also but now run a Seasonic S12 600w.
Cases are down to personal taste.
Try to avoid Thermaltake or I'll never speak to you again.

At least that's a bit more reasonable than "or I'll have to kill you".
But why would you speak to a corpse?
