cant blame him
lol'
I've fallen asleep in a phone room or two waiting on hold to get central office help (CO tech).
I'd never do that at in front of customer or out in the open, however. Even though there is absolutely nothing else you can do 'cause you're tehered to a phone line, it doesn't look good.
Phone rooms are basically dungeons in office buildings that are locked. There is no foot traffic and it's rare that a customer will be in there with you.
I'm sure that EVERY phone/cable technician at some point has fallen asleep waiting for help. It's a light sleep 'cause as soon as we get someone on line, we are spattering out the problem to them.
Customer are always surprised to see that we wait on hold (in cue) longer than they do. I was surprised at that too when I became a technician.
Many times the technicians work is done rather quickly. It's because of other bottlenecks in the whateverthefuck hierarchy that we get stuck with shit that has little to do with us actually fixing shit.
It's funny that, as a grunt, you know what all the problems are but higher ups are somewhat clueless 'cause if they don't see it on a report or statistic directly relating to said problem then it doesn't exist.
Meanwhile their bottomline is affected, they usually identify some other reason for it and make all the wrong changes. I've the company change something, then change it back numerous times.
