Im learning to Drive... Finally.
I know, it is probably a very lame thing not to drive at my age,
but that is the plain fact.
I don't know how to drive a car.
I've never had the need, 'till now. :( !...
The thing is that, almost a month ago, I got a new job, but the place is kinda far from home,
and public transportation is not a good option, since I would have to get up very early
in the morning, then walk a few blocks and.... well, I might get to that later.
But my little broh. does know how to drive,
he learned alone, just from watching and moving the car from 'here to there',
and I might add that he is pretty good at driving, may be he is ever more careful than my dad.
So tomorow we'll take the car and he will, at least try and teach me to drive,
I don't wanna admit it, but it kinda wories me, and I know you think Im stupid or something but thats it. .
How hard could it be,
I mean, I've acomplished grater things, so.
right?...
Anyway, any advice on how to aproach this
would be good.:P
Re: Im learning to Drive... Finally.
I know lots of fully grown adults who have never learnt to drive. Lessons are expensive, and if you're not going to drive having taken those lessons it's very lame.
Driving's easy, you just have to work out how to work the clutch, unless you're learning automatic
Re: Im learning to Drive... Finally.
Automatic for life. :P
Just remember, start off small. Don't start driving all over freeways already, start on really small streets where there aren't many cars. Do simple right turns, then left turns. Driving is easy, just take it nice and slow.
Re: Im learning to Drive... Finally.
Actually it's best to start off in quiet, wide areas such as industrial estates on a Sunday when there's nothing else around to bump into.
We're talking about the very first time behind the wheel, after all.
I'd suggest getting at least some professional instruction particularly as your brother's never had any. Although you might feel safe with his driving you have no experience from which to judge his safety behind the wheel.
When I say safety, I mean other road uers' safety while he's behind the wheel, not just his.
Driving is also about much more than merely co-ordinating your hands and feet.
There are other drivers on the road that you have to anticipate and whose possible actions you must take into account.
You need to be observant and assess potential dangers before they develop.
I haven't had an accident in more than 20years and I like to think that's due more to judgement than luck.
EDIT:
Actually, a woman drove into the back of my car at a pedestrian crossing, so that's one accident in 20years
Re: Im learning to Drive... Finally.
I don't have any specifics as far as techniques, but its just a car, man. Millions of people drive them. Just jump right in and see what happens. YOU'LL DO JUST FINE! :01:
Re: Im learning to Drive... Finally.
Number one thing is not to stand in front of the project path of a moving car:no:
Re: Im learning to Drive... Finally.
Rule number #1 do not get a friend to teach you , expesialy in his car .
You should take a course with a driving school so much better . Good luck to you WP , never too late to learn anything .
Re: Im learning to Drive... Finally.
I know this mogolian dude who drives fucking 120km on a 40km road.
Scariest ride of my life, true story.
He had to like, swing to the left to avoid another seedler.
Re: Im learning to Drive... Finally.
Did he not run out of road a third of the way?
Re: Im learning to Drive... Finally.
Don't be stupid, he just turned around and drove it again.
Only a complete maniac would drive around the same road over and over again, I understand Seedler's fear there.
